Anyone here like Nelson DeMille books? I need a new book. - volcs0 - 07-29-2010

OK... they're a little campy and predictable, but I like John Corey's character in Nelson DeMille's books. I listen to them when I run, and they really make the time go by quickly.

I'm just finishing "The Lion" which has been a lot of fun. I'm looking for a similar type of author, if anyone has any recommendations. (It also helps if Scott Brick is the reader... but that's another issue)

Thanks.

"The Charm School"by Demille is a good one, and available on tape. Also anything by W.E.B. Griffin will be good.

Robert Parker, Dennis Lehane, James Lee Burke, Michael Connelly. For the "traditional" ones, I like Dick Francis. All available on tape or Kindle.

Have you read any of David Baldacci's books?

Marcinko's Rogue Warrior reads like those - with comical foul ups, but a determined SEAL mission.

And he would know. He ran SEAL Team 2 before creating SEAL Team 6. Best to start with his
biography first. As soon as Reagan was gone, Admirals he exposed (by testing security) came after
him with a vengeance. Trumped charge put him in prison and after his bio came out, NAVY said
"write another non-fiction book, you'll be activated, and imprisoned."

The first of the Fiction books are great - and you just KNOW that elements are true and we did just
what he's describing....

Ok. Great. I haven't read any of these authors. I will definitely check them out.

Thanks.

I just found this author, David Housewright. Similar to Demille. Also check out Vince Flynn, and the earlier Brian Haig books (Alexander Haig's son) Ted Bell too.
