Dealing with Nova Development (Parallels) customer service makes Comcast look stellar! - JPK - 07-30-2010 I have what seems to me to be a pretty simple question, but i am having a very hard time getting someone who understands it. Re: Dealing with Nova Development (Parallels) customer service makes Comcast look stellar! - hal - 07-30-2010 it's friday afternoon - after 5 on the east coast - not the best time to be calling a small company for tech support Re: Dealing with Nova Development (Parallels) customer service makes Comcast look stellar! - JPK - 07-30-2010 I am upgrading from 2.5 to 5. I ordered the upgrade from Nova per one of their promotions. It requires the new activation key and the old activation key. It won't take my old activation key. JPK Re: Dealing with Nova Development (Parallels) customer service makes Comcast look stellar! - hal - 07-30-2010 did you follow the steps outlined here? http://kb.parallels.com/6815 Re: Dealing with Nova Development (Parallels) customer service makes Comcast look stellar! - Seacrest - 07-30-2010 JPK wrote: I understand. I don't have an answer for you, but I understand. Did you copy and paste the old activation key? Sometimes invisibles -- spaces, returns, etc -- can cause those to not be recognized. Re: Dealing with Nova Development (Parallels) customer service makes Comcast look stellar! - JPK - 07-30-2010 Followed all the proper procedures. From what I can tell, the standard upgrade is only for versions 3 & 4, and there is a special upgrade that I have to buy for version 2.x. Of course they never said anything about this when they sent me the upgrade package and they do not want to return & refund the upgrade I already bought. I am not sure if I understand the relationship between Nova and Parallels. Nova seems to have tech support out of India and Parallels perhaps in Russia? It has been very frustrating. I got a "trial" key so at least I can move forward with my install. They have "elevated" the status of my problem and expect to email when they have a resolution. Anyone want to bet if this really happens. I am sure the end of the story will result in me buying another special upgrade copy of Parallels Desktop. For the amount of times I use windows, clearly bootcamp is a better method. JPK |
