what's up with people that can't take care of OS install disks? - clay - 09-10-2010 From time to time, I resell small numbers of Mac OS install CDs / DVDs that I either purchase, get from friends, etc. I'm always amazed at how poorly people have treated the discs--usually lots of scratches, all sorts of crud on the packaging, sometimes boxes and manuals are torn, etc. I suppose the same could be said of the way many people treat music CDs and movie DVDs as well. Since I have these discs for the sole purpose of resale, I often need to discount based on condition. It boggles my mind how people treat a $129 piece of Mac software the same as a DVD they find in the $5 discount bin at wallyworld. Re: what's up with people that can't take care of OS install disks? - davester - 09-10-2010 Most people are not computer geeks and have no idea what those disks are. The computer seems to work fine without them...why should they worry about them? They were packaged with all the other useless bits of paper that you never need. Re: what's up with people that can't take care of OS install disks? - kap - 09-11-2010 All of my Mac OS 10.x.x install DVDs still look spanking new. Perhaps an Otto without references to racial stereotypes and bodily functions, but then that wouldn't be Otto, would it? Re: what's up with people that can't take care of OS install disks? - space-time - 09-11-2010 is it legal to sell those disks? Re: what's up with people that can't take care of OS install disks? - clay - 09-11-2010 absolutely. we're just talking about full retail versions of the Mac OS, no copies, NFR, CPU drop-in, upgrades, etc. I mostly resell them on Amazon, there's a pretty good market for them... space-time wrote: Re: what's up with people that can't take care of OS install disks? - Acer - 09-11-2010 clay wrote: 10.5 is fetching $150+ on ebay.
