Can the new Kindle 3 (Wifi only) be used internationally? - TiUser - 09-13-2010 We are spending a year abroad and have a US account for the Kindle. I wanted to get the new Kindle for my significant other so she can get off my iPad. :-) As long as I have Wifi connectivity and a legitimate US account, it should work, no? Thanks. The only time fees come in to play is if you're trying to use the 3g outside of the US. Since you said wifi only you shouldn't have any problems. I've never actually done it though so I could be wrong. Re: Can the new Kindle 3 (Wifi only) be used internationally? - rgG - 09-13-2010 Sorry, my bad, I thought you were talking about the 3G Kindle, even though you clearly said Wi-Fi only. Don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, it looks like Amazon may actually charge you even over WiFi, seems odd, but look at this link I found. Edit: It might be OK for you, since you have a US billing address, though. Really weird pricing structure for Amazon though. http://www.downloadsquad.com/2010/08/30/international-kindle-users-heres-how-amazon-is-screwing-you/ Re: Can the new Kindle 3 (Wifi only) be used internationally? - TiUser - 09-13-2010 Thanks for the responses and the links. Maybe I should just get her the new iPod Touch and use the Kindle app? One of the comments at that link said that they could get the US price by using a proxy server.
