It's Official! All Hail the KING! - Jimmypoo - 10-24-2010 The fat lady is singing! She's eating too, but you already knew that! "ChristopherBoyce" has been brought to his knees! "OnTheDownLow" has fallen! He is no longer on Top! (That's not what I mean! Get your mind out of the gutter!) Let me start over. Folding Team 38910 Has A New KING - and there is no challengers to his Kingdency! He is ON TOP! (let's not go there again…) HAIL THE NEW FOLDING KING, our very own REXRZER! Equipped with just a few machines - hacked together with a few of the finest pieces of hardware out there (such as a MacBook Pro with an i7) as well as a small herd of Intel i7 920s, overclocked to be the FASTEST of all the i7's seen by EGVA, the premier maker of motherboards & fatherboards & babyboards, Rexrzer overclocked a 2.67GHz Intel i7 to an incredible 4.21GHz -- air-cooled, and it runs stable, day after day, at 100%, folding and Folding and FOLDING! Posting over 50,000 points per day, King Rexrzer is now an untouchable! No one person, according to OverClocking Extreme, has the computing power available to catch King Rexrzer - who has passed Mr. DownLow (both in excess of 17,000,000 points), and adds to that total every day! King Rexrzer adds points per day at such a rate, that OverClocking Extreme says, with their forward looking calculations, that he is UNCATCHABLE! Crushing Folding@Home work units in as little as 4 hours, the new King of Folding has surpassed Mr. Boyce, who was once ranked 62nd in all of the world among all Folders! He still commands a place in history, but the emphasis is on HISTORY. King Rexrzer has passed Mr. Boyce & his minions who toil now for a secondary place in MacResource Folding History! Each one, the King, and the fallen, possess nearly 25% of the MacResource total points. But the question remains - will our new King will seek to achieve his place in history, moving closer to the #1 position of folders worldwide - and do it as a member of the failing MacResource team? OR Will King Rexrzer move his history making capability to a new team, and join others like him, who have embraced the i7 with the intent to squeeze out every cycle of power to fold Fold FOLD! while keeping the CPU at a cool 74 degrees C!!?? Only the departure of King Rexrzer can restore Mr. OnTheDownLow as a Top! Only then can he climb back from the bottom to reclaim his position on top of Petro, Paul F. and others! Only King Rex knows if Team 38910 will get the benefit of the Intel 6-core CPUs when they emerge from the shadows to occupy space on a retail shelf for literally seconds before being forcibly installed inside the juggernaut of computational power that is the Castle of King Rexrzer! Yes - only by the charity of the man himself, the pity of The King upon a man so low as OnTheDownLow, will Mr. Boyce be able to regain his leadership position on team 38910… the charity that is ABDICATION. Those that fold Fold FOLD! permit humanity to move forward and conquer disease! All disease… but one: The disease that is… THE NEED TO FOLD! ALL HAIL THE KING! KING REXRZER! This announcement has been brought to you by Schaffer Beer. It's the beer to have, when you're having more than a 12 pack. Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - Paul F. - 10-24-2010 Hip Hip! Huzzah!!! God Save the King! Sadly, I was never able to get InCrease to run properly on my 10.4 "model", so most of my folding "stable" has fallen away... I've only a couple machines still folding. Hopefully when I have time to redo my Lab Model, I can put InCrease and Folding back into the mix and save a shred of folding dignity. Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - haikuman - 10-24-2010 Hail to the King Rexerness ~!~ Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - steve... - 10-24-2010 We are honored to have KING REXRZER among us. WE ARE NOT WORTHY! ![]() Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - clay - 10-24-2010 Ya gotta wonder where either of them gets all their horsepower. Do they have 100 machines folding? Or is it just a few high-powered setups churning away 24/7? I have access to probably 10 machines (mostly intels) that could run it, but have never done it because I've needed the cycles for other work. Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - D-Rod - 10-24-2010 All hail the King!!! Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - rexrzer - 10-24-2010 I received an email this afternoon from Jimmypoo, strange as I haven't heard from him in awhile, and lo and behold he left me in the email the link for this thread... Like WOW! I never imagined anything like this, but thank you so very much for the sincere best wishes from everyone who has posted here, or who plans on or will post later on, it's all appreciated very much. To answer those who wonder, or will wonder, how in the world I average 50K+ PPD for this Team 38910 MacResource.com, let me briefly tell you how I do it, then you won't have to wonder anymore. 3 OEM PC Desktops 1) PC No.1 - Cooler Master HAF 932 Case; EVGA Classified BL-141-E760-X58-A1 Motherboard; Core i7 920 2.67Ghz CPU@ 4210Mhz; 12GB G. Skill "Purple Wonders" 1600Mhz DDR3 RAM; Xi-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Sound Card; EVGA GTX-285 1GB DDR5 VRAM SuperClocked Video Cards (2) in SLI; D-Link DWA-556 XTreme "N" WiFi/Network Card; Areca 1680IX-8 SAS to SATA/eSATA Hardware RAID Controller with 2 active busses A) 2TB RAID 0 Boot Volume ( 2 x WD "Black" 7200RPM SATA II 1TB HD's) B) 4TB RAID 5 Media Volume in a FirmTek eSATA 4-Bay Hot-Swap RAID Enclosure (4 x WD "Black" 1TB HD's) and here's its very own web page if you want to see it up close http://sites.google.com/a/rexrzer.org/makeusimages-inc-/cooler-master-haf932-i7-920-web-page 2) PC No. 2 - Core i7 920 2.67Ghz CPU @ 4210Mhz; Classified motherboard; BFG GTX-285 OverClocked Video Card; HAF 922 Case; DWA-552 XTreme "N" Network Card; WD Velociraptor 300GB 10K RPM HD 3) PC No.2 - Core i7 920 2.67Ghz CPU @ 4210Mhz; EVGA BL-132-E-758-X58-A1 Motherboard; EVGA GTX-285 Video Card; DWA-556 XTreme "N" Network Card; WD Black 1TB HD All three have Corsair HX-Professional HX1000 1KW PSU's and individual Belkin 1500W VA Tower UPS's, and they all fold 24/7, programmed exclusively for the PC-specific Core A3 SMP3 Work Units, which are worth anywhere from 3,300 to 10,600 points apiece, and I fold an average of 16-20WU's per day with all three PC's, my current average is a little more than 54K PPD--it has been as high as 61K PPD and as low as 51K PPD recently, but overall it seems to hover about 54-55K PPD consistently. I passed ChrisBoyce on Sept. 29, 2010 @ about 2PM PST for general knowledge, and although he put up a brilliant resistance, almost hitting parity with me briefly two weeks ago, my sustained output has never varied much and I am now pulling away at more than 16K PPD average, a fitting end to that long, hard fought encounter with CB and I am glad it's over, frankly! I chased CB for some 5 years, and it wasn't until I built my 3rd OEM PC that I actually began closing fast this past summer, and finally I was overtaking him at a rate of almost 20K PPD at the end of the pursuit, so I would say I've been "relentless", and I had a goal to reach and now I've done it, finally. It has been a pleasure to put up all those points for the MacResource.com Folding Team, but who knows what the future will bring. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to compete for No.1 Folder here, and I am very pleased to now be in that position after so much hard work, daily minding of my machines, and constant fiddling with the adjustments on the motherboards until reaching stability, and full Folding@Home confidence at some point this past summer. My PC's are now maintenance-free virtually, and the No.1 PC is the server in my photography studio, even while it does Folding@Home 24/7, it's sort of an amazing PC with twin RAID volumes and a very fast Areca 1680IX-8 hardware RAID controller that handles all I/O activity, there being literally nothing on the Classified busses but for network and sound controls, and I enjoy working on it a lot for my creative processes, and of course for game playing with those twin EVGA GTX-285's in SLI to boot! I hope everybody is having a great weekend, and thanks to Jimmypoo for thinking of me in this kind way, funny as it may seem, as it's been a LOT of work to get to where I am in Folding@Home, where I am now ranked No. 319 in the world out of 1.5 million active individual Folders. My goal is to be ranked within the top 250 Folders at some point, and to maintain my present pace at the regimen of Folding@Home at or about 50-55K PPD for the duration, and the goal will eventually be reached-- I am confident of that, anyway. Encourage other members of this great group to start Folding again! There are so few of us doing it for this team that it's kind of sad right now, to me it is anyway. I would appreciate some help here, you know! rexrzer - 10-24-2010 Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - rjmacs - 10-24-2010 Less yapping, more curing diseases. You're using up valuable cycles posting and reading and replying. Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - RAMd®d - 10-24-2010 Utterly amazing! Great work. I do have questions about the process... As far as we know, have these "civilian" distributed networks returned positive results? If one's churning reveals a discovery, are they informed? Or does this occur farther down the process? I've no perspective of breadth of the task. I can barely wrap my head around the concept of the amount of energy released in one grain of sand were to be converted to 100% energy. Good luck to all who fold. Re: It's Official! All Hail the KING! - lafinfil - 10-24-2010 Congratulations rexrzer ! You done good. Congratulations as well to Chris for holding the title for so long and fighting the good fight for a good cause. |
