Did beer or wine come first? I've read that beer came first, but I have my doubts since it is more complicated to make beer. To make beer, the grains must be malted before they can be fermented. To make wine, all you have to do is crush some fruit.

Not in the least. It may hold back an individual but it lubricates the mind and many a social situation which is a benefit to society.
