Learn something new every day - Drew - 11-21-2010 If you want to copy (not move) something from one folder in your hard drive to another, drag the preview icon that appears when you single click on the file. If you drag the file itself, it will move. You can do the same copy procedure while holding down option key and dragging the file. Yeah, yeah, I'm the last one on the planet to learn this one. Actually, I figured it out by accident. Re: Learn something new every day - mstudio - 11-21-2010 I knew the option trick, but not the preview deal...thanks, it works! Re: Learn something new every day - blooz - 11-21-2010 eh, don't feel bad. I can't tell you how many "obvious" or "common knowledge" things I've learned on this forum. If others are like me, they learned how to use computers by playing around, asking someone at work how to, or reading a forum like this—or they could have read the manual. oh wait, there isn't one. Re: Learn something new every day - The UnDoug - 11-21-2010 what do you mean by "preview thing"...is this when viewing folders in "Column" mode? Re: Learn something new every day - mstudio - 11-21-2010 The UnDoug wrote: Yes, column view. You just grab the preview and drag it, cool, I did not know that. Re: Learn something new every day - Drew - 11-21-2010 In any view, single click, Get Info, and drag the preview image to copy. Don't know why anyone would want to go through all of that, but it works. Re: Learn something new every day - gabester - 11-21-2010 Here's what I learned - people actually use column mode?! g= |
