Best Store bought Pies? - kap - 11-24-2010

Ah, sue me! But I need to bring a couple to our friend's house tomorrow.

Marie Callendar's
Baker Square is long gone.
Henry's
TJ's

I am in San Gabriel Valley, CA

Marie Callendar's pies are always the winner in my book.

Costco.

Whole Foods makes a delicious pie, for sure.

Don't have CostCo membership card.
Didn't even think about WholeFood. Thanks!

FYI you can always go with a friend to Costco and use their membership to buy things (as long as they are there of course) -- Costco even encourages it...

My buddy took his CostCo card with him to NY. I don't know anyone else. I'll try WF pies this year. Had Marie C's every year.

I hope you're right about the Costco pies. I bought a pecan and a pumpkin to take to the family dinner.

Costco and Wholes Foods have some nice stuff but are fairly routine.

In the San Gabriel/Pasadena area you might try the following places.
Although it may be a little late to get anything (they both tend to get cleared out early). I would call.

Perfectly Sweet
126 W Main St
Alhambra, CA 91801

Porto's has some great fruit tarts.
Porto's Bakery
315 N Brand Blvd
Glendale, CA 91203

And if you go a Gelson's they have Victor Bene's baked goods which are really good. And there is always Twenty 'n Four or the House of Pies in Los Feliz.
