OT: How is Charlie Rose doing? - Dennis S - 05-09-2006

They don't say much on his show and I thought he would be back by now.

Saw a reference on-line dated April 27 that he had just arrived back in New York. He was in hospital in Paris longer than initially expected.

What happened to him?

He got Dick Cheneyed.

Actually, Cheney was an angioplasty, if I recall correctly.

Charlie Rose was in the Middle East when he started having symptoms. Flew to Paris and had open heart surgury for a heart valve replacement. Stayed in Paris in hospital for a month or so. He also had a heart valve replacement in 2002. Not sure if it was the same valve.

I wonder if it actually needed replacement. Sometimes you can get by for quite a long time just by jiggling the handle. Its what I do.

I'm very impressed by all the powerhouse guest hosts they've had. I really like the fact that they tailor the guest host to the type of guest, e.g. an editor for Rolling Stone interviewing a musician.

It was a mitral valve this time. I don't know about 2002.

Awesome.
