Top Gear USA season is over. What's your assessment? - Mini 9 - 01-11-2011

I think they need to dump Adam Ferrara. Tanner is the star of the show. They need to stop playing Rutledge up as a flannel-wearing, NASCAR-loving, one-dimensional dunce. He's likable, but give him some room to expand.

Sorry, I think - boring. Tough to use the same name of a proven show.

EPIC FAIL.

Over? History ordered 10 episodes.

There's a new one next week, and a recap show the week after that.

Tanner is the other thing salvageable from this version.

To come even close to the Brit Top Gear, production would require brilliant writing, advanced camera work and top shelf editing.

No doubt there are firms that could do this in the US. But I doubt that they work in network or semi low rent cable.

The only way this could be worse is if Speed (vision) did it.

I found the episode i saw to be tiresome and barely watchable. Could not imagine what the appeal was.

Ok, I could have sworn Adam said final episode.
He actually said to Brett Michaels

"...You are our final guest and we usually don't do this, but you are our final guest so here at Top Gear we want to give you...."

My bad, I translated that into final episode.

It started out really rough but it has improved, if only slightly. I think they need to work on the hosts lineup. Tanner stays. The other two are optional. Everytime I see Tanner I think "Why is Apollo on the show this time?"

I really think that is the key. If it were just another show with a different name it wouldn't have been held to such a high standard. A standard it never had any hope of reaching. It might have helped the show as well if they weren't trying to carbon copy something that's already been proven instead of trying to be a bit more innovative.
