what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - lazydays - 03-05-2011 I like to watch house hunters and whenever they go to texas the houses and cities look so nice and clean. Beautiful neighborhoods. Obviously I'm seeing a very very small snapshot of the state. Anybody here live there and care to comment on how you like it there? And to make it fun, where would you like to move to based on information as completely frivolous as mine? Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - Black - 03-05-2011 I've thought about moving to Hawaii while watching L.O.S.T. Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - haikuman - 03-05-2011 Texas is so flat *(:>* That Gravity left Town ... :jest: Hawaii is awesome, The Pacific Northwest defines Majestic and Serene, Northern California is Dynamic, Arizona is about """Monotonous Beauty""" <~~ credit Zane Grey and maybe Edward Abby for the sweet descriptions of Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. The Nevada Sierras are are Magical and Intimidating. Montana is Picturesque and plain Beautiful *(:>* No matter where you go there you are *(:>* Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - michaelb - 03-05-2011 The flyover of Las Vegas at the beginning of CSI has ensured that I never, ever want to live anywhere that looks like that. I wonder if Twin Peaks/North Exposure influenced in the choice that I did make. Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - steve... - 03-05-2011 I spent about 9 months in Texas in 1969. I grew up on the northern coast of California and Texas left a lot to be desired. It was hot, flat, full of bugs, snakes and critters and all the lakes were man-made with grass for beaches. Having just been drafted into the Army didn't add to the experience. It's probably the last state I want to visit. ![]() Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - Spock - 03-05-2011 State of Amnesia. Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - lazydays - 03-05-2011 Northern Exposure was filmed less than an hour from where I live. Spent an afternoon drinking there last year. Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - DaviDC. - 03-05-2011 Texas should rejoin Mexico. I spent 6 months there in 1973 & the only good memory was getting on a plane to leave. California has some cool places but we've all seen so much of it on TV. I still can't get over someone trying to pass off Southern CA as Korea, let alone Hazzard County KY. I've always enjoyed pointing out those familiar conifers in Griffith Park; the ones Opie & Andy Taylor walked past while going fishing, Granny Clampett camped out there, JohnBoy Walton wrote in his journal while sitting in their shadow, & on & on. Re: what state looks nice based on movies and tv shows you've seen - Buzz - 03-05-2011 Can't beat Hawaii... "Cricket" Blake, aka Connie Stevens, on Hawaiian Eye as Hawaii was just becoming the 50th state, made me a believer, even though we had to watch on black and white television. Connie was a pal of my dad's business partner, and she would help promote their store openings and attend other business functions that I was fortunate enough to be dragged along to, so I took an extra special interest in her show, and have been fascinated by the beauty of Hawaii ever since. In more recent decades, their have been shows that make San Francisco look a lot nicer than I remember it growing up there; but if you only film on picture postcard days, it is pretty spectacular. The Seattle area also get props from TV exposure. There have been many shots of the desert and Rocky Mountain states that have also been scenic. |
