Are there more flakes on CL than eBay? - kap - 03-05-2011

Got some a couple of buyers who were ready to xfer the fund to my paypal account, or to pay cash for an immediate pickup but then I did not hear from any again after they had sent numerous messages to my inbox. What a waste of time and energy, or was I missing something?

Craigslist people can only transfer cash to my hand or vice-versa. Cash only. Only cash. Cash is king. There are many more weirdoes on Craigslist.

A lot flakier in the way that you're meaning. I require that people respond to me with a local phone number, and like vision, cash only. I also sell for less than ebay because I think they try harder to get their ducks in a row if they think the item will go quickly. I usually don't like screwing around trying to get top dollar, at least on craigslist (ebay seems set up to get top dollar). kj.

Due to anal retentive care and maintenance our 'products' are better than the similar items listed on eBay. Still, we price our 'products' 20%-30% lower. That doesn't stop buyers from bargaining even more so. Within reasons, we are willing to do so but some folks just don't want to stop there. I feel obligated to direct them to the free category.

Short answer-- yes.
Like kj I will only discuss anything further if I get a phone number, which I request in the ad. Absolutely no response without one. Absolutely no response to lowball offers, absolutely no response to offers to trade a box of Wii accessories, baseball cards, etc.

I've given things away on CL that I could have easily charged for, just because I didn't want to deal with haggling. At a yard sale, that's a different story (not sure why...it just is).

Interesting, I am the opposite. At yard sale, if they haggling becomes a bit much I tend to sell things next to nothing just to shut'm up. After that I just want to throw a shoe at them :burnout:

Well, when it's extreme, yeah. I've posted this before, but this is based on true events:
