How well does AdBlock work? Does it also get rid of pop-unders?

works great for me

Pretty good.

Easy enough to download/install/try...and remove if needed.

For instance rense.com with and without.

It has options, and the areas and such can be FINE-TUNED. This was just one I did quickly for your consideration.

I would actually suggest you get something that filters JavaScript instead. JavaScript is the most likely culprit. Not all ads are a bad thing.

Yeah, the only thing I've tried is the brute force method of turning off JavaScript, which of course causes certain websites to no longer work correctly.

It does its job well but it won't necessarily speed up your web browsing.

iCab and Opera have built in per site filters. The paranoid crazy uncle method is to disable javascript globally and then only enable it for sites where you need JS. Firefox has NoScript. I have no idea what Safari has available.

NoScript for FireFox. Perhaps it will migrate to Safari. But I'm not a huge fan.
