Easiest way to get an AVI onto a DVD for my TV? - jdc - 03-06-2011

Ive got an 20 minute long AVI -- and I would like to get so I can watch it on my TV.

I have Handbrake and Toast 8, but a couple of attempts havent seemed to work.

Anyone have a a way they like to do it?

All of my DVD players are old, so they wont do anything but standard DVD formats

I've never had a problem using iDVD to render and burn. The resulting DVD always works on every player it has met. I always use -R media, but newer players are not finicky.

Import my movie into iMovie, edit, export to iDVD, burn.

QuickTime 7 will export to a number of formats.

I also have Toast 8 and have no problems making DVDs from avis. You are probably doing all this but just in case open Toast, select Video from the menu on the left and then DVD-Video. Drop the avi into the big open space and hit the burn button. Just to check before hand try, after dropping the avi into the space, File > Save as Disc Image which should be very quick then mount the disc image to check you have a VIDEO_TS folder inside.

Good luck
