They're still working on my iMac.
The tech thought it might be the HD, but no it wasn't. He replaced the logic board, but that board didn't seem 100% so they're ordering another one.
I assume the graphics chipset is on the logic board on a mid-2007 iMac?
What's left- RAM, power supply. I'd think they'd have checked the memory early on (4G from somebody, I don't remember who). But I think the problem preceded the RAM upgrade.
I'll call tomorrow.

Haven't they had that iMac quite a while? You might be getting a new one, if they can't fix it soon!

Sounds like you'll maybe get stuck with a new 27" machine, which would be horrible.

They've only had it since last week sometime- Tuesday of last week I believe.
It would be interesting if I got new iron out if it, and I suppose I could endure the pain, but I don't think a new iMac is in the cards.
Well, not in that deck anyway. But I'm eyeing the new 27s, and I've got tax refunds to burn.

Oh, no - they'll fix it. Believe me, if they have to replace every part, they'll fix it. Magical new machines appear out of AppleCare (because they will re-sell the machine as a refurb, eventually), but $300 flat fee repairs get worked OVER. Nice idea, though.

While I agree they're going to fix my machine, I'm unable to parse:

Erm, well since it's a 2007 iMac i guess i assumed it's not covered under AppleCare, and you're getting it repaired under Apple's flat fee service. After a little research, it appears that the $300 flat fee figure is for laptops, and i'm not sure what it might be for the iMac. Sorry for any confusion! Regarding AC, i meant that sometimes folks get new machines under warranty because Apple will ultimately be able to part out your machine for resale in refurbs (so it's not a total loss).

I think Rammie's machine was in the last few days of Apple Care.

Yes, rg is correct- it's still under Apple Care.
And I got that iMac from Amazon on clearance when its successor was announced.
