Re: CL dreamer of the day - timg - 05-05-2011

Hey, now wait just a cotton pickin' minute here ... I thought G4's only supported up to 2Gigs of memory!

Those puppies have to be some ultra-rare prototypes since they both are sportin' 4Gigs!!

Re: CL dreamer of the day - blooz - 05-05-2011

Don't think I want any monites around.

Was initially thinkin' old Juan had lumped 2GB's/each together to get to the 4GB's, but those QS machines only had three RAM slots, so that while the G4 itself could address 2GB, w/ three slots, those boxes could only hold 1.5GB. IIRC there was something w/ the mobo controller that wouldn't let the QS address more than 512MB per slot, even though somewhere out in the wild there were some 1GB PC133 RAM sticks for winduds servers that theoretically could physically fit, but not be happy in that Mac.
Just embellishing Juan's dream... heck, even getting just the full 2GB into a QS would be nice :-).
