Thank you Crossover Mac - Dick Moore - 05-06-2011 I run mostly two programs on the PC side of the ol' Frakkintosh, LTspiceIV for circuit simulation and ARTA for audio spectrum analysis. Hate having to reboot just to use those two programs. Crossover Mac to the rescue -- they both work very well, no Windows needed. LTspice just works. Go, transistor-heads! With my Main Board sound hardware -- 24-bit, 96kHz Intel High Definition Audio -- ARTA needs its sample rate and the sample rate set in OSX's Audio MIDI Setup utility to be the same -- if they are different you get an error message. Resolution can be set to 24-bits in AMS, and left there, but ARTA only works if it is set to 16-bit resolution. However, it appears that the full resolution of the on-board sound hardware is being used in ARTA anyway. So one of the most powerful audio analysis suites out there works on my Mac. Wow. Re: Thank you Crossover Mac - space-time - 05-06-2011 how much is LTspiceIV? is it free? if not free, is there something else that is free? Thanks Re: Thank you Crossover Mac - timg - 05-06-2011 It's free. Re: Thank you Crossover Mac - Jem - 05-07-2011 Cool. Will checkout ltspiceiv. Have wanted to dabble with circuit design simulators. Re: Thank you Crossover Mac - Dick Moore - 05-07-2011 Free at Linear Technology, a premiere maker of opamps and ICs. LTspice is a very powerful Spice implementation with very good plotting and analysis tools, and a great library of models that can be added to. Highly recommended. ARTA, for those interested in *complete* audio analysis, offers a multitude of functions and can be run in demo mode as long as you wish with almost no restrictions -- there are a few limitations, but only a few. Also highly recommended. What's a transistor? - RAMd®d - 05-07-2011 Gramps used to talk about those around the campfire, but he was a crazy old coot and we just assumed transistors were just some mythical being, like the White Witch.
