Using ipad charger for other things - pqrst - 05-09-2011 I wanted to use my ipad charger for my gps unit. I was wondering if the high current output of the charger was going to cause any problems with the gps (which calls for a lower current). Should this work or will it cause any damage? Re: Using ipad charger for other things - silvarios - 05-09-2011 "other things" Don't ask, don't tell. Re: Using ipad charger for other things - RgrF - 05-09-2011 Why chance it? Re: Using ipad charger for other things - macphanatic - 05-09-2011 A device should only "pull" the amperage needed. If the voltage is the same, having a higher amperage charger should not cause any issues. Re: Using ipad charger for other things - Chakravartin - 05-09-2011 By "charger" do you mean the USB wall-wart? Yes. It has a maximum draw of 10v for quick-charging the iPad. Standard 5v devices should draw 5v. Re: Using ipad charger for other things - RAMd®d - 05-09-2011 It will work. It won't cause damage. Re: Using ipad charger for other things - pqrst - 05-09-2011 Thanks. |
