A couple of wretches at work - kap - 05-27-2011 They are so unhappy with their jobs but they won't quit. They make their co-workers and their clients miserable :banghead: Re: A couple of wretches at work - freeradical - 05-27-2011 I've had to work with people like that before; it sucks. I was stationed at Aviano Air Base in Italy, and there was a guy who was always complaining about how horrible it was to be there and the burdens it placed on his family. Burdens such as not being able to go to the mall etc... You just want to B&*^#@ slap somebody like that. Re: A couple of wretches at work - cbelt3 - 05-27-2011 Attitude that affects clients is ALWAYS unancceptable. The only way it's acceptable is if the attitudinal person has that 'creative genius' reality distortion field, where the clients somehow feel honored to be offended. And that often turns bad. I'm amazed that this is allowed to continue by Management. Re: A couple of wretches at work - kap - 05-27-2011 cbelt3 wrote: Union doesn't allow anything to happen. And that has been confirmed by other co-workers. Re: A couple of wretches at work - Blankity Blank - 05-27-2011 Do people tell them that they're not interested in hearing the grousing? Too often I see people joining in or egging people like that on, then after they've left comes the complaining about how 'He's always complaining'. Re: A couple of wretches at work - kap - 05-27-2011 I have been at this on call part-time job for a lit' over 3 years. I have managed, thus far, to stay neutral (listen and keep my mouth shut) successfully. Thanks goodness I work directly under the dept manager and the director. And they both have a strong support and rapport with me. It's like that throughout the college. The politics are thick. Re: A couple of wretches at work - $tevie - 05-27-2011 I freaking can't stand my job, but in this economy where am I going to go? Re: A couple of wretches at work - kap - 05-27-2011 $tevie wrote: Perfectly understandable. However, you are not pounding your dislike on your co-workers now are you? ![]() Re: A couple of wretches at work - cbelt3 - 05-27-2011 Ah.. union issue.... can't reassign 'em to a different slot ? In a lot of unionized companies with big job assignment issues, problem employees get promoted to get 'em out of the way. "Special Projects" is often a euphemism for "solitary confinement". Just another way to say that the company signed a bad contract if you can't get rid of bad eggs. Re: A couple of wretches at work - decay - 05-27-2011 this is a case where unions suck. and i'm NOT anti-union, and not starting an anti-union tirade/tangent. but there needs to be a way to rectify such a bad situation legally, so that all parties are satisfied. |
