Yellow bird weekend - Wags - 05-29-2011 Right now the western tanagers are in town, they stop over here in Portland for a few weeks in the spring before heading up into the mountains for the summer. I made a foray out to the wildlife refuge to try and get some pix, but all I got was a few frustrating glimpses of them through the trees. When I got home I was sitting out on the back porch and noticed a pair in my trees... ![]() Then this little Wilson warbler practically hopped into my lap. ![]() Then a yellow warbler: ![]() Re: Yellow bird weekend - hal - 05-29-2011 awesome pics! cute birdies Re: Yellow bird weekend - Sam3 - 05-29-2011 What camera + lens was used? Very nice. Re: Yellow bird weekend - mrlynn - 05-29-2011 Nice pics. We've got a few goldfinches here (eastern MA) that seem partial to the sunflower seeds in our feeder. /Mr Lynn Re: Yellow bird weekend - Wags - 05-29-2011 Sam3 wrote: Canon 50D, 100-400L, thanks. Pretty nice when I can sit on the porch with a cold beer and get pix like these. Don't have to get my shoes all muddy  Re: Yellow bird weekend - Rick-o - 05-29-2011 Nice! Great pics! Thanks for posting them. Those are *stunning* pics! - RAMd®d - 05-30-2011 Fscking gorgeous! With your permission, Wags, I have some new desktop pics! That's a pricey piece of glass! Re: Yellow bird weekend - vision63 - 05-30-2011 Those are stunning captures. It's almost like I can touch 'em. Re: Yellow bird weekend - Wags - 05-30-2011 With your permission, Wags, I have some new desktop pics! Help yourself, I'm flattered. And yeah, the glass cost more than the camera, but I've had it several years and used a rebate when I got it so I'm not into it near as much as I would be buying it now. The micro adjustment option on the 50D really helped with the sharpness, but I think I have a pretty fair copy of that lens as it is, after I figured out how to use it. Nice! Great pics! Those are stunning captures. It's almost like I can touch 'em. wrote: Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. Appreciated. This has been a great spring for birds, seen more variety in the backyard then ever before. Don't know why.
