after making text follow a pentool path, how can i make the path invisible?

i used a pen tool to create a path for the text to follow. it is a spiral of rectangles. it worked fine but the path is still visible even after i moved on to the next part of the project.
how can i make the path invisible?

Can you move it to it's own layer and then turn off the layer?

Go to the paths tab and turn off the path so it is not hi-lighted.

Just go to the Paths palette and click outside of the path (un-highlight it).
