Found My LPs - Kate - 06-25-2011

Wow, I thought they were gone, but we found four boxes of all my old LPs in the back of the garage.

My first Beatles album (I was 14, "Introducing the Beatles" from VeeJay), and all the rest of my my Beatles. Also, the Stones, Jimi Hendrix, the Youngbloods, Cream, CSN, Al Kooper and Mike Bloomfield, Lee Michaels.

Lots of memories.

Kate

Buy a record cleaning machine.

Sadly, your Introducing the Beatles album is most likely counterfeit. http://www.eskimo.com/~bpentium/beatles/intro/intro.html It might be worth something if it is genuine. I have one of the counterfeit ones myself.

Very nice collection, shows great taste (was there any Taste?) but how could you have not known you still had these boxes of records?

Re: Found My LPs - h linamen - 06-25-2011

Just a few weeks ago I digitized some of my LPs using Griffin's "iMic". Works great. I had purchased it a couple of years ago and was just reluctant to try it due to thinking the process would be difficult (plus I have been busy with other things). It is simple. Plug and play. Quality is quite good with no enhancements.... though I'm no audiophile. Just wanted to have my old LP music in iTunes.

Now I want to convert some of my audio cassette recordings of old family conversations and "mailed" audio letters, some from deceased parents.

Griffin iMic was good for its day; many better options available now, depending on budget.

I'm seriously interested. What are the options? I just thought iMic was great for simple plug it in and use..... and it is still being sold... not obsolete.

For the money, hard to beat.

Another more expensive option.

But you'd need a phono pre-amp for this method. I kind of think the noticeable "quality" difference might be minimal.
