Pretty cool...the kids loved the stampede of moose--the stampede ran right past my minivan:

At Six Flags in New Jersey, where the animals roam free...(except the big cats and baboons)...

Roaming free on a tarmac road hardly defines roaming free.

True, but they'll never have to worry about wolves or mountain lions jumping from behind a bush to eat them....the biggest danger they face is disease from old age and way ward NJ drivers hitting them with the car. Oh and the space that they may roam is pretty large. I drove for about 1.5 hours through the 'safari'...so it's a decent size captivity...

Oblects in the mirror may be larger than they appear.

Your stampede is Rocky Mountain elk. If that is a recent picture they are not getting enough to eat.

When I was going to grad school in Oregon, my wife and I went to a wildlife sanctuary somewhere south of Eugene. At one point we were in an area for African lions and I saw them gnawing on the tires of the car in front of us. One of the tires went flat and a couple of guys in a jeep came and chased the lions away so the person driving that car could get out of the compound and change his flat tire. After we went thru the gate I stopped and looked at our tires and there were lion tooth marks on them. That was a lot of excitement for my wife and child. And me.
