"Is this okay to eat?" - wurm - 06-29-2011 I took a frozen solid vacuum sealed package of teriyaki marinated turkey tips out of the freezer yesterday morning to thaw in the kitchen sink in a plate of cold water. We ended up not getting home yesterday until about 5:30pm. Obviously, they were fully thawed by that time. Better to toss or should we go ahead and grill them up and (hopefully) enjoy? I'd rather not spend the night in the bathroom, but if they're fine I'd hate to throw them out. Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - Spock - 06-29-2011 Go ahead .... .... or you could wait for Paul F to confirm it should be OK. Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - NewtonMP2100 - 06-29-2011 .....thought this would be a thread about Paris Hilton.....?? Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - Ombligo - 06-29-2011 Turkey - yes, safe to eat Paris Hilton - No, extremely risky. Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - BernDog - 06-29-2011 1. How long does fresh turkey, packaged similarly, sit in the cooler case at the store? 2. It's marinated. Make sure to report back with all the gory details if it does make a return appearance. Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - bik - 06-29-2011 I wouldn't. In addition to the first time it was out, cut up, and marinated, it sounds like it was possibly above a good storage temperature for several hours yesterday. The teriyaki would probably mask any smell and color, which means you'd be going entirely on faith. The last time I ate turkey that I wasn't totally sure about, I ended up doubled over for 2 days. Turkey should be cooked as soon as possible after its removal from refrigeration. http://www.recipetips.com/kitchen-tips/t--173/turkey-handling-safety-storage.asp Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - freeradical - 06-29-2011 Don't do it if the turkey was over 41 degrees for more than four hours. Google Fattom for more information. Re: "Is this okay to eat?" - August West - 06-29-2011 I'd toss them. |
