To jailbreak or not - Fritz - 06-29-2011 I'm leaving my pals at ATT behind to hang with their soon to (maybe) be bretheren T-Mo and HTC Sensation. Would my iPho 3G be more desireable as a JB or still a slave to the T? I can't imagne the used value would be any different, but which state would be more desireable? Re: To jailbreak or not - Trouble - 06-29-2011 Yes, JB & unlocked Re: To jailbreak or not - DRR - 06-29-2011 JB and Unlocked should get you a bit more money. Not much, but it won't hurt. Especially for what amounts to 20 minutes worth of work on your part. Re: To jailbreak or not - Fritz - 06-29-2011 is there a preferred JB method for the 3G? I did a JB on my 3G in order to unlock it for T-Mo. Jailbreaking hosed my wifi which worked fine before. I have to literally hold the 3G next to the router to get a signal (for updates etc...) and sitting 3 feet away only get a single bar on the strength meter. It appears that this is not an uncommon problem, and I have not yet found a fix. YMMV FWIW - I did my JB using Pawnage Tool & the custom iOS from iClarified. You will want to download Tiny Umbrella too in case you get stuck in recovery mode. Re: To jailbreak or not - thermarest - 06-29-2011 JB is pretty straight forward, but unlock not as much. Depending on what baseband ("modem firmware"--under the settings page) you have, it is impossible to unlock. Re: To jailbreak or not - lafinfil - 06-29-2011 I found the unlock to be easy using repo666 from ultrasn0w. It was pre-loaded in the Cydia packages. Somewhere along the lines I upgraded to modem software 06.15 (iPad software) trying to fix the wifi issue. No issues with it, but there is no downgrading. |
