Sprint Broadband Anywhere For A Mac? - karsen - 05-24-2006
My Father in Law is looking to buy a new laptop for use with the Sprint Broadband Anywhere service. It appears that the cards only work with a PC though. Is there a way to get this service on a Mac? He would like to get a MacBook. Thanks.

It'll never happen on a MacBook as there's no PCMCIA or ExpressCard Slot - only on a MacBookPro when sprint releases an expresscard version.

last gen G4 PB if he wants Mac, or use one of the available power vision phones that tether via PAM {phone as modem] for MacBooking for time being. depending on location, PAM'ing works surprisingly well, and vice-versa.

You'd have to buy an EVDO router to work with a MacBook/Pro, which defeats the portability of the solution. For Sprint, if you were to buy a PC Card solution for the Mac, you want to get it from: http://www.evdoinfo.com/ as they pre-activate the card and provide the mac drivers.
Another option, supposedly Sprint will allow broadband access on a laptop through the new Palm 700p to be released in a few weeks, and you could connect to the Palm via bluetooth or USB.

My phone is a couple years old now, and technically they want you to have a second plan but...
I just use my regular phone with a USB cable. There is a Sprint Modem profile already in OS X. It's not the fastest thing in the world, but...

Why don't they just activate the card?
