Southwest spurns singer over saggy pants - Grace62 - 09-03-2011

"Green Day lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong was pulled off a Burbank-bound jet for wearing his pants too low, prompting an apology from Southwest Airlines.

The incident occurred Thursday night on a Southwest flight at the Oakland airport.

A producer for KGO-TV Channel 7 was on the flight and witnessed the incident. Cindy Qiu told the station that before takeoff, a flight attendant asked Armstrong to pull up his pants.

Armstrong, she said, responded, "Don't you have better things to do than worry about that?" When the flight attendant repeated the request and threatened to have Armstrong removed from the plane, Armstrong replied, "I'm just trying to get to my ... seat."

Armstrong tweeted about the incident, saying: "Just got kicked off a southwest flight because my pants sagged too low!"

On Friday, Southwest released a statement: "As soon as we became aware of (edit: WHO THIS WAS>>>OH NO!) what had happened, we reached out to apologize for this Customer's experience." The airline said Armstrong took the next available flight."

Green Day's next new single or album will be:
Southwest Idiot?
Fashion Victim on a Plane?
Nice Guys Pull up Their Pants?

I don't need to see anyone's underwear or ass for that matter, male or female because their pants sag. I can only assume it wasn't just a hint of the waistband sticking out.

Really surprised to hear about this. Is this what "punk" has become these days? Just odd that this even happened.

Green Day are all at least in their late thirties.
By that age you should really dress like an adult, I don't care how much "street cred" your profession demands.

And I say this as a guy who runs around most days in shorts and a t-shirt.

I bet you don't need to hold your pants up with one hand when you run either.

I saw a dumbass kid in jailers running to catch his bus. He had a Starbuck's cup in one hand and some sort of food thing in a napkin in his other. In the middle of the crosswalk right in front of me, his pants fell down, and he tripped. I heard about a dozen people laughing at him as the bus pulled away.

My GF's oldest kid had on some really oversized jeans way down low, with half his crack hanging out. I told him those pants were not appropriate to wear. He argued that everyone was wearing them like that. I promptly pantsed him and asked if that was a potential risk in a high school hallway. He quickly went back downstairs, and came back up in proper sized pants, and a belt. You can't tell a kid, you have to show them. I have also threatened to video them at the dinner table if they didn't believe what I said I was observing.

whatta buncha pruds you all are!

My question is, why the hell is a big rock star flying on SWA? That's the airline for po' folk (trust me - it's the one I fly the most)

Don't rock stars travel in their OWN jets? Or on a chartered flight? Or at least in First class (SWA doesn't have 1st class)?
