Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet ! (After Cataract surgery) - cbelt3 - 10-03-2011 http://www.komar.org/faq/colorado-cataract-surgery-crystalens/ultra-violet-color-glow/ Very cool. Getting an expanded sense... Of course, can he now see that the yuppies are all evil aliens ? Re: Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet ! (After Cataract surgery) - DaviDC. - 10-03-2011 Very interesting! My mother has had cataract surgery & from certain angles, her eyes glow like those of a cat. She said her doctor told her that might happen but that I was the only person to tell her about it. I can't decide if it's cool or creepy. I guess the people she hangs out with are much too polite to let her know that her eyes glow. Re: Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet ! (After Cataract surgery) - davester - 10-03-2011 Sounds like complete BS. Cataract surgery only replaces the lens with a plastic lens (which I have had done). It has nothing to do with the color receptor cells on the back of the eye that control which colors cause a signal to be sent to the brain. Re: Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet ! (After Cataract surgery) - anonymouse1 - 10-03-2011 Some cataract surgery does NOT replace the lens.... Re: Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet ! If some people are color deficient, why can't other people be color proficient ? We're all made a little bit different. I remember my fencing master telling me that I had 'super speed' (fast hands). He really, really, really wanted me to try out for the Olympic team. Re: Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet ! (After Cataract surgery) - RAMd®d - 10-03-2011 There's probably some diffraction happening in some people from the plastic lens or the surgery itself. As to whether or not that guy has "Vulcan Vision" or if it was caused by the cataract surgery, I have no way of knowing. Given the example Vulcan Man used, it should be easy to set up a few experiments to determine if he actually has V-V. Then one can consider how it came to be. Re: Vulcan Vision ? The only way to fix it is to replace it with something transparent. Re: Vulcan Vision ? Man sees in near Ultraviolet !
