Apparently i missed the BB episodes where the Iranians were trying to murder Saudi foreign service officials! (Maybe Season 4 gets a lot more elaborate....i'm not up to speed yet.)

Actually the time to 'take them out' was when we put the Shah in power in the first place. "Nation Building" is something the US really, really does not do well. We're too damn clueless.

No, that gave two generations of Iranians to prosper for the next 25 years. I suppose if you had your way you would have advanced clerical rule and misery from 1979 to 1953. They had been eyeing the throne for a century. Carter finally gave it to them.
