Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - MacDoxy - 10-24-2011 I have a path of cement pavers next to the house maybe they are 2'x2'. Once i put the gate back on the fence, the paver sticks out too far. The cement square is heavy. I dont want to add smaller pavers because they might move and this path will have to have consistent snow removal. Is there a way to just chip off a strip without it looking too bad? Or any ideas? Thx Re: Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - cbelt3 - 10-24-2011 Rent this. http://www.homedepotrents.com/proTools/concrete_saw.asp?cm_sp=tool_rental-_-left_nav-_-concrete_saw ![]() You'll buy a blade. Wear ear protection and a dust mask. Snap a chalk line, fire 'er up, and cut away. When you're done, hose everything off, vacuum the dust off the saw, and take it back. Then have a beer or two, and celebrate your manly victory over concrete ! Re: Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - haikuman - 10-24-2011 Use a straight edge to mark the line where you want to make the cut. You can carefully use a hammer and a chisel scoring the paver first. You can also attach a cement cutting grinding blade to a Skill Worm Drive Saw or other similar tool to make the cuts, Rudie *(:>* Re: Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - cbelt3 - 10-24-2011 MacDoxy- Yeah. You can. It's just not as much FUN ! haikuman has it. The problem with cutting a paver with a chisel is that you just can't make a straight cut on something that's 2'x2'.. it WILL go wrong and you'll end up just giving up and cutting it yourself. Unless you're a journeyman stone mason in disguise. You *can* also just get a concrete cutting blade for your regular portable circular saw. but it's hell on the bearings if you're going to cut a lot of concrete. Cheapo contractors do that sometimes, then throw the saw away after a few months of abuse. I actually got a diamond blade for my grinder to do some concrete trimming, but I blow the grinder out every time. I've still probably reduced it's life. Re: Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - haikuman - 10-24-2011 You can also attach a Cement Cutting Grinding Blade to your Grinder if you have one. This is a non diamond disposable blade. My luck has been good for limited cutting with saw and grinder no tools died *(:>* YMMV :priate: Rudie Re: Paver stone cement. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - lafinfil - 10-24-2011 For a single cut I would just get a brick chisel. Like Rudie said, just mark your cut line with a straight line. The idea is to create a stress fracture so the paver splits naturally along the line. I would first score it at each end of the cut and then work from the ends towards the middle. Remember that you are just creating a scored line with the chisel and not cutting through. It should fracture and split before you get too deep. You might also check to see if local big box rents a paver/brick splitter. It is like a giant tile cutter. It scores the line and then snaps it. They may cut one at the store for you for free. An inch or two too large, possible to chip a bit off? - edgarbc1 - 10-24-2011 use a sharpie black marker if you are going to use the wet saw cutter a chalk line will be blown away by the water as you go Re: Paver stone cement.
