At a tech conference in October, Napster co-founded Sean Parker reflected on the massive changes the music industry has undergone in the 12 years since Napster launched.

I never knew Sean Parker was founded by Napster!

The Napster I knew was gone 10 years ago. I used it exactly once prior to that, but it was amazing to see so much content available in one place.

Seems to be some contention. Shawn Fanning is the obvious founder, but as Parker has become more famous, his role has grown to become "the Napster guy".

Hotline servers, ahh...

i liked AudioGalaxy better than Napster.

Soulseek is probably still going, under the radar, right?

Hotline! How useful UDP could be. Too bad it got mired in bad dealings - that kid was a brilliant programmer.

I can't count how many times I needed to get data between two networked computers and decided the easiest route under the circumstances was to set up a HL server and client.
