This just in... Me thinks the safety was off ~!~ - haikuman - 12-01-2011 http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/man-accidentally-shot-own-dog-221644169.html By Eric Pfeiffer | The Sideshow – Wed, Nov 30, 2011 Man is accidentally shot by his own dog ~!~ Dogs are man's best friend. Except, you know, when they're shooting a gun at you. And strangely enough, that's what really happened to a hapless dog owner in Brigham City, Utah. The man in question--a 46-year-old hunting enthusiast who is not named in local news reports on the incident--got a behind-full of birdshot courtesy of his loyal canine companion when he was out duck hunting over the weekend. KSL.com reports the man and his dog were traveling in a canoe-like boat when the man stepped out into a shallow marsh to set up some decoys. His left his 12-gauge shotgun resting across the bow of the boat, according to Box Elder County Sheriff's Deputy Kevin Potter. Re: This just in... Me thinks the safety was off ~!~ - haikuman - 12-01-2011 As you know Racer his first "Mistake" was not stowing the gun properly. The shotgun did not need to be loaded yet either and of course not having the safety on gives this dude the hat trick of poor gun safety. He needs to retake a gun safety course in order to maintain a license in my opinion. Rudie *(:>* :priate: Re: This just in... Me thinks the safety was off ~!~ - Racer X - 12-01-2011 I agree completely. Relying on a safety to be safe is sheer idiocy. My KelTec P11 doesn't even have a safety. I rely on common sense and rigid compliance to safety rules. Now, its entirely possible that the shotgun has worn components and a hard whack or dropping it set it off. But that's why you have the safety on and no round in the chamber until you are in place and ready to shoot. Even with the safety off, and defective components, it can't shoot without a round chambered. Re: This just in...
