Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match" - deckeda - 12-12-2011 Apparently, since Sept. 2008 they only price match TVs. A non-TV item was purchased and the day after it arrives, it's now $30 less. With having to pay return shipping and get it out the door it's not really worth the hassle to return it, and I bet they know it. Re: Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match" - lipskidder - 12-12-2011 Same thing happened here. Kinda. Mine was only $3 less but the info might help you. The day after the item arrived it was lowered on the site. I asked for a post refund and he said that it had to be an amount more than $20 and at least 7 days after the item was SHIPPED. My item - I asked if I could return it with no penalty to me. He said yes and would send me a form to do so and they would pay for return shipping. Then I asked that if I order the item again at this lower price with free shipping if that would be okay. He said of course but the refund would have to wait until they receive the original item. Fine. Then I said it would be cheaper giving me the $3 difference then have them pay for shipping both ways on their dime. They agreed it didn't make sense but they couldn't just give me the refund. So if you have the funds to pay twice for the item (until the refund comes through) and don't mine the extra time for the cheaper item then just order it again. I decided to not do it because of $3. But you might for $30. Re: Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match" - lipskidder - 12-12-2011 This was just 2 days ago I talked to Amazon about this. Re: Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match" - mattkime - 12-12-2011 what was the item? I want to return some items (Logitech C910 camera I got for $50, now they sell for $55) and when I said reason "I don't want/need anymore" they wanted me to pay shipping. Then I went back and changed my reason to "item arrived too late" and this time I got a free shipping label. Re: Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match" - deckeda - 12-12-2011 It does help, thanks. So, you called them, right? Was it a hassle to get through? I emailed them explaining the situation briefly and asked how we can "make things right" but didn't mention the item (a camera) and they don't know the buyer (my dad, so different Amazon username). If they inquire some more I can proceed that way and hand over the info to my dad. If they return a standard "no" email I'll just have my dad call them and see what happens. Since I'd recommended to my dad both the camera and the seller (Amazon.com, although I *think* it was fulfilled by a 3rd party vendor, which might complicate things?) --- I'd like to get my ducks in a row before letting him know he overpaid. Re: Finally happened: got burned by Amazon's "no post-order price match" - volcs0 - 12-12-2011 How did you get "burned?" And because I have some responsibility to make smart recommendations when it's someone else's money. |
