grahpics/photo editing program preference - iaJim - 12-14-2011

I used to have Photoshop, but since upgrading, I no longer have it, and really don't want to spend much money to have a program like that. Once in a while though, I have the need to doctor a photo or to add text to it or something like that. I tried using an online site, but it's just like trying to edit wearing mittens.

What inexpensive program(s) do you use that you would recommend?

Thanks!

Pixelmator gets mentioned here a lot.

Good luck.

FX Photo Studio Pro is a great program. It's got a lot of "look" yet it still offers basic photo editing. It has one of the prettiest icons too. http://www.fxphotostudioapp.com/

Photoshop Elements? Define inexpensive.

Much less than $79.99.

GIMP is free.

That's what I'm looking for.

Pixelmator http://www.pixelmator.com/

...or...

Acorn http://www.flyingmeat.com/acorn

Both are quite powerful and, unlike Photoshop and Gimp, are made for Mac.
