Any Windows 7 techs here? Weird problem - MacArtist - 12-15-2011
After a period of time, I lose the ability to copy and paste. I am still able to drag and drop with an app like InDesign CS4.
Control+C, Control+V produced nothing.
I see the "copy" command in the menu but "paste" is not available as an option.
A restart restores copy and paste ability again but it would be nice to know why this happens and maybe a possible fix (other than dynamite).

Is it like that in all apps? If paste is grayed out, can you launch Notepad and see if paste is grayed out in the new program? Can you then select some text and see if you can paste that?

It's in all apps.
When I lose the ability to copy and paste, it affects all apps.
Frustrating.

Launching Notepad has the same outcome.
I can type...
select "copy"
but paste is unavailable in any appl.

I should also add that running Registry Mechanic didn't do anything to fix this situation. Also, I am current with OS updates.

This is a real Win7 install on a Dell Studio xps 9100, i7 processor, 12 GB RAM.

My first guess for problems like this is usually some Ease of Access setting gone wrong.

I recently updated my home/work PC from vista to 7. Stupid idea.... CD/DVD Burner disappears and the SD card reader doesnt work now. Pretty effin stupid for an "upgrade".
Its windows 7 thats the problem!

You might just need to update the chipset drivers. You will need to find the name/number of the chipset and then find the most recent stable update. Install it, then find similar dated drivers for video, networking, and sound.
