Canon Pro9000 quit loading paper - DP - 12-15-2011

Canon Pro9000 won't load paper. It started a few days ago with one sheet. Pulled out the paper, put it back in, and it works. Then it did it a few times, now it won't load at all. Cleaned the feed rollers but no help. It acts like it's trying to load the paper then just stops. I get error number 1000-"No paper. Load correctly...".
I unplugged it, disconnected the data cable, let it sit for 10+ minutes, plugged everything back but same old, same old. I saw on a help site to clean the cartridges and print head. What would that have to do with paper loading?
I'm trying to finish printing my Xmas cards so this is not a good time for it to do this! I am using Avery greeting cards so I thought it might have something to do with the surface but I tried it with plain paper too.
What next?

1) that's too fancy printer for Xmas cards. Use a cheapie disposable $50 Canon printer (basically pay for the ink, throw away the printer after that)

2) call Canon tech support, their ads in Time claim they have OUTSTANDING 100% US BASED tech support. I am curious if they help you.

3) OT: my cheapie MP560 also had trouble loading papers a few times, but now it seems to work fine

Do head aligning in maintenance mine wouldn't feed after it had been bumped.

Re: Canon Pro9000 quit loading paper - DP - 12-16-2011

Well, after leaving it off for a while I did a head alignment, bottom plate cleaning, and cleaning. It's working now and I finished printing what I needed to print.
Thanx for the help, all.

Re: Canon Pro9000 quit loading paper - Buzz - 12-16-2011

One of our Canon inkjets (the networked one, of course) has similar feeding issues... it seems to have been trained to to like Costco paper, and whenever I try to fool it by feeding it some of the remaining Kodak paper, it goes on strike. Thankfully, Baby Buzz's printer happily eats the Kodak paper, it just doesn't print quite as nicely, so I'd prefer to feed it the cheaper paper... glad your tune-up did the trick.
