New hotness! - john dough - 12-17-2011

MacBook Pro i7 Quad 2.2 now at 16GB RAM!

Just for fun I had 4 VMs running at the same time (XP Pro, XP Home, Vista Ultimate*, 7 ultimate) and not one stalled.

*I keep that for one client that refuses to upgrade to 7.

If you can use it all, decent upgrade for under $200 -- sorry, but our lovely forum sponsors prices for 16 gigs is still a bit high...

Yeah, but I think you missed the important point. He CAN take it with him when he goes!

Can't wait until i can put 8GB MORE in my MBPro... or built a hack like that. I envy you both!

I wonder how the main OS divides up the CPU usage - one VM per core?

One client runs 32GB of RAM on his MP as he has around 10-20 PS files open at any point and needs the memory.

Yes, he has way more power than I do, but you cannot take it with you when you travel, as pointed out (at least easily). I had also opened up a VM of 10.6 and 10.7, and still no hiccups (no need for 10.5 anymore or Windows 8, yet).
