OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - Ken Sp. - 01-11-2012 Geez...we are always the last to know? http://9to5mac.com/2012/01/10/owc-puts-together-mac-mini-stack-max-usb-3-0-4tb-3-5-inch-drive-esata-more/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=twitter&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+9To5Mac-MacAllDay+%289+to+5+Mac+-+Apple+Intelligence%29 Looks promising if we had more details Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - Trouble - 01-11-2012 No ThunderBolt? Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - lazydays - 01-11-2012 Looks impressive. Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - Gareth - 01-11-2012 Would be cooler if it had Thunderbolt for a 1 cable connection. I wonder if the eSATA is on the USB 3.0 (which would make it rather lame for current Macs) or Firewire bus. Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - mikebw - 01-11-2012 How does it connect to the Mini? Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - Grateful11 - 01-11-2012 I thought they dumped the the last because Apple said it looked too much like the Mini, looks like this could be the same problem again. Don't get me wrong I like it and I don't have a Mini, I like it for the storage and the extra ports. Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - Racer X - 01-11-2012 I'd get it as an add-on extra storage device for an iMac. Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - OWC Larry - 01-11-2012 We didn't dump the prior miniStack model because of any issue - that design enjoyed a run from 2005 to mid-2011. This design lines up with the new Mac mini footprint and has other improvements/modernizations and features as well. It's not offering Thunderbolt... but there will be high performance options for eSATA and USB3 to Thunderbolt in the future. Thunderbolt isn't there yet and from a market perspective adds a ton of cost that isn't justified today for each and every storage solution. Everyone asks for it - but between the cable and chipset implementation with the other interfaces that are a must for the market it adds more than $100 to retail which doesn't make sense with better options/flexibility via future adapters. anyway - this is built for today and for tomorrow and we're really pulling for USB3 on the next Mac refresh. ![]() Grateful11 wrote: Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - OWC Larry - 01-11-2012 more info.. btw... http://www.newertech.com/products/externalhd.php Re: OWC puts together Mac Mini Stack Max: USB 3.0, 4TB 3.5 inch drive, eSATA and more - Carnos Jax - 01-11-2012 Man, having this kind of access to Larry is like having a personal hotline to the White House!
