Three sentence movie review "Star Trek Insurrection" - Trouble - 02-05-2012

The only good part of this craptacular movie was the line
"The crew wants to negotiate a cease fire. It may have something to do with the fact we have three minutes of air left."
Stay far away. I'm just happy this popped up while I still had time to remove the BR from my Netflix queue.

Data goes nuts. The good guys win. The nebula is pretty.

I watched Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home earlier tonight. I think that was only the 3rd time I'd seen it. The last time was a crappy VHS copy & it wasn't a particularly enjoyable viewing experience.

I'm skipping V because it sucked so badly so next up is The Undiscovered Country.

Far and away the best of the ST movies, IMHO. (tu)

And if V is the one I'm thinking of, it was the worst. I have seen Insurrection in bits and pieces but I don't think I have ever seen the whole thing in one sitting.

Undiscovered Country (VI) was supposed to eliminate the bad taste V left behind, but I thought it sucked too.

All of the Star Trek movies except for JJ Abrams' debacle were welcome "visits" with our favorite characters even if some of the stories were pretty bad. That said, II and IV, Generations and First Contact were the best, one, three and five and Emesis probably the worst, and VI and Insurrection somewhere in the middle IMO.

Other than KHAN, the Star Trek movies haven't aged well. IV and VI are both pretty creaky a couple of decades later.

Yep. Sucked like the vacuum of space.

I showed them all to the kids a while back. The first one is quite a bit better than I remember. Likely, because we were all (in 1979) expecting an action movie (Star Wars with Kirk and Spock and Klingons) and Roddenberry gave us Star Trek in big screen grandeur. As such, it's not half bad.

2 and 4 are generally acknowledged to be the only 'good' ones with the original cast.

On the other hand, I have a fondness for 3. Christopher Lloyd simply steals the movie as the Klingon captain.

The only really good part about "Insurrection" was the hot chick, Donna Murphy. There's just something about her.
