It's 2012. Can we at least legalize hemp? - Dennis S - 02-13-2012

I'm not one of those hippie-types that's always talking about legalizing hemp, man, but come on. What the deal? It must be about somebody's lobby, I figure.

nylon rope maker's lobby. Du Pont...

I just want them to stop asking for my damn driver's license every time I have a sinus headache and want to buy some Sudafed.

Thy f-ing demanded my ID at Target when I bought cough drops. 'Same damned thing in peppermint instead of menthol was okay.

I think it's all about data-collection and sales of our personal info rather than any respect for the risk associated with drugs.

If they really gave such a damn about public safety, why not card people buying bleach, turkey fryers or bug spray?

you apparently haven't seen (1) meth in action and/or (2) what H.S. students will do with cough medicine, etc.

They're not solutions, for sure, but they're a response to a public need, either way.

Ah, good. I didn't see the news reports stating that these things don't happen anymore.

Maybe now we'll see increases in truck hi-jackings for purple drank.
[/sarc]

Having to show your ID is a TSA-like show for the public that doesn't do anything for the problem and annoys everyone.

Allowing them to see your ID is one thing, letting them scan the information to store all your personal information in their database is something else altogether.

How exactly does that prevent anything anyhow? Anyone can ask someone else to buy the Sudafed for them.
