Does it all come down to Michigan? (and maybe Ohio) - beagledave - 02-13-2012 I don't see any credible path for Newt or Ron Paul to get the GOP nomination. I'm still in "bet the farm" mode for Romney, but will observe that there remains a tiny sliver of a chance that Santorum could, if he wins Michigan, start to make things really interesting. If Romney wins Michigan and Ohio, the fat lady has finished warming up and is ready to belt it out. Any dissenting opinion? Re: Does it all come down to Michigan? (and maybe Ohio) - cbelt3 - 02-13-2012 Don't pin it on me. I'll vote my conscience. Re: Does it all come down to Michigan? (and maybe Ohio) - Pops - 02-13-2012 I think the Republicans are going to end up stuck with Mitt. Maybe he can turn things around, but I think he'll be chewed up over his flip-flop history and pandering to the ultra right during this primary season. Everyone KNOWS he'll have to flip back to a more centrist position in a general election campaign. This whole switch to establishing nominees early through the primaries seems to have hurt the Republicans more than the Democrats, IMO. Re: Does it all come down to Michigan? (and maybe Ohio) - cbelt3 - 02-13-2012 Yep. It will be a choice between Obama and Obama-Light. Re: Does it all come down to Michigan? (and maybe Ohio) - Grace62 - 02-13-2012 Ouch! Public Policy Polling (PDF). February 10-12. Likely Michigan Republican primary voters. ±4.9%. No trends. Rick Santorum: 39 Mitt Romney: 24 Ron Paul: 12 Newt Gingrich: 11 "Riding a wave of momentum from his trio of victories on Tuesday Rick Santorum has opened up a wide lead in PPP's newest national poll. He's at 38% to 23% for Mitt Romney, 17% for Newt Gingrich, and 13% for Ron Paul." http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/ Re: Does it all come down to Michigan?
