FoxNation has to take down yet another "deluge" of vile racist comments - Grace62 - 02-18-2012

This one about Mrs. Obama. Since this is the response they get nearly every time they feature an article about a black woman, perhaps they should just close down the commenting altogether, or stop doing those articles? This one seems intended to provoke the response that it got.

FoxNation: Putting the "ass" in "classy".

They reap what they sow.

My guess is they won't stop posting articles which incite the racist comments.

What are they, ten?
I though the Fox demographic skewed strictly blue-hairs, but those comments are straight out of my middle school days.

I started to look at them, but honest to God it's too upsetting.

I don't enjoy reading this stuff any more than the next civilized hu-man, but isn't it better to have it out in the open where you can see that it exists? And isn't it better to have a visible stain on Fox-dom (the way they play their game it's very rare that anything sticks) that has a chance of repelling the unwitting, than rooting for them to sanitize their image?

I see a few signs that Fox is trying to "sanitize," if you want to call it that, and if it means less racism on the air and in print, I'd call that a good thing. When they do nothing, they are giving hate a platform, and no responsible news network should be doing that.

I think they throw the red meat, get the response, then pretend to be outraged by it and take it down. It appeals to the worst instincts, no doubt, call it the Rush Limbaugh effect. Fox is starting to see the market consequences and make changes.

I salute littlegreenfootballs and other media watchdogs who bring this forward, because otherwise most of us would never be reading that anyway.

The ironic thing is that they don't censor their commentators very well on this. Just last week one of their talkers, speaking about Rep. Eleanor Norton said (paraphrasing,) "Put down the crack pipe and the other drugs, you know what happened to Whitney Houston."
