My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - the_poochies - 03-26-2012 The fellow whom I've been using to to design and maintain my organization's Web Site since 2002 just announced that he is the sole winner of the recent $70 million Powerball jackpot. I'm glad for him because I don't know if his business was faring well in this recession. I guess I'll be searching for a new Web designer! ![]() Re: My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - rjmacs - 03-26-2012 Click here to BITE ME! Re: My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - Black - 03-26-2012 And the logic of announcing such a thing . . .? (edit-- meaning the logic of the webmaster announcing the windfall) Re: My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - GGD - 03-26-2012 Black wrote: Possibly to inform the customers that they just became very low priority. I never knew anyone who won the lottery, so my reaction was just one of interest. Haters gonna hate, I guess. To date, my Web designer hasn't returned my calls or e-mails since last week. Hmmm..... Once again it is obvious that many of us are not as intelligent and as logical as thou Sir Black *(:>* ![]() Re: My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - mattkime - 03-26-2012 I'm not sure i'd tell anyone, at least initially. hm, i guess people would eventually find out. i hope it goes well for him. unfortunately the same disability that allows people to win the lotto tends to help them dispose of their assets with surprising speed. if you can wait it out, he'll be happy to be your webmaster again. Re: My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - haikuman - 03-26-2012 You bring up some good points matt. Maybe part of winning a lottery should include the mandatory completion of some counseling courses regarding the issues of sudden wealth and money management. Rudie *(:>* Re: My Webmaster won $70 million in Powerball lottery - clay - 03-26-2012 I think most lotteries require that a winner be publicly named, so there's not much opportunity for winners to get away without their name being shared. Something that some people do is to create a trust that can step forward to collect the winnings. Going this route can protect a winner from detection, but keep in mind that few people stick to the exact same lifestyle after winning as they had before winning, so staying unnoticed can be a challenge for all but the most cautious. I mean, even if you just wanted to buy a new house and quit your job, don't you think that would raise questions in the minds of those who know you best? This isn't the sort of thing that most people can keep secret. |
