So when was volume control enabled under 10.6.8 for Firewire Audio interfaces? - clay - 03-28-2012

Just fired up my MOTU firewire interface, and noticed that I now have the ability to control volume that's routed through the interface. Previously, the volume control was greyed out (inaccessible) and I had to control volume on the interface itself. Don't know if this was something Apple added in an OS update, or whether this is something that was enabled with a MOTU audio software/driver update.

Anyone else with a firewire audio device have the ability to control volume via the computer?

I don't know, but did you end up buying that expensive pre-amp you asked about a while ago?

thanks for checking. Must have happened with a recent MOTU driver update, then.

Not on the Focusrite Saffire PRO 24s here at work. Still running 10.6.6 at home so I can't check my Alesis, but yeah I suspect it is an individual driver thing for you.
