Lousy editing - srf1957 - 03-30-2012

Raymond Feist's latest book is a mess. I pre ordered this last fall so didn't check news about book. This is what I got, passive voice I don't know why they didn't
correct US version or delay it until they did.

Perhaps it was determined to be a way to write it. Confusedmile:

I've seen similar bad (or lack of) editing in ebooks. Some were paid, some were freebies. When a publisher whines about keeping the cost of ebooks UP, and then fails to even provide the basic service of editing, it puts their lies up in bright lights.

This nonsense should be shouted from the rooftops at the next ebook pricing argument. Authors do the work and expect the publisher to do a bit of something for their cut. Self-publishing is a better model... allow the authors to find (and compensate) their own editors.

FREELANCE !!!

The issue in this case was not so much poor editing as it was the inability to rapidly correct a silly snafu once the problem was identified. Editors need to be truly obsessive-compulsive about their process - check, double-check, and triple-check.
