OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - spacescape - 06-16-2006 Just called my mom about making sure she's at my house by around 1:30 for a 2:00 photo shoot @ Babies R Us. She replies "well, the cable guy hasn't showed up yet"... I was like "WHAT, it's 12:30... Call them and tell them that you need to be out of your house by 1:30 for a 2:00 Appt. and they are LATE..." I just don't understand the concept of the "MORNING" or "AFTERNOON" appointments... and them being late... Come On, they have a a 4 hour window... Oh well, sorry about my rant. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - NewtonMP2100 - 06-16-2006 I think most repair/service/cable people allow a certain amount of time for the call. . .BUT depending on what is wrong it may take more time than they estimate. ..and for repair people anyway. . .time is money. . . Recently, had a Sears repair guy come. . .he was very "time aware" he told me what he thought was wrong and offered options. . .he seemed annoyed when I tried to ask further questions. . . he was never really rude but I felt that the "jeopardy" clock was tickin in the background. . .his attitude was like. ..make a decision now! Some doctors do the same thing. . .overbook and then the patient is forced to wait 1 hour or more because the doctor WAY overbooked to get as much money as possible. . .. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - IronMac - 06-16-2006 Alternatively, both the repair guy and the doctor may not have overbooked but may have run into complications such as traffic, getting lost, unexpected complications, and stupid questions being asked by patients, etc. Every job is expected to be performed in a certain amount of time but life happens. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - NewtonMP2100 - 06-16-2006 true dat. . . this one dentist I had. ..would make me wait over 1 hour each time. ..I can understand a long wait every once in a while but every single time? I changed dentist. . . Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - Mike Johnson - 06-16-2006 Repairmen have days where, they say they'll be there between 8 and noon, and they show up at 8:30, and knock on the door and ring the bell, but nobody's there. They use a cell phone to call the customer -- no answer, so they leave a note. They go on a another call, come back at 10:15,the note's still on the door. Nobody comes to the door or answers the phone. They leave another note. Then at 11:45 their dispatcher calls, says the customer is irate, demands they get there now and fix the beast and be done by twelve. Customer says he was in the shower. Doctors, too, have days when their schedule is busy on paper but half of the patients fail to show up. Or a patient calls in at 2:00, frantic and demanding to be seen right away, so you squeeze an appointment in at 4:00, and then at 4:30 she calls and says she's almost there, and then at 5:00 she calls again and says she'll be there in 15 minutes. At 5:30, she's still not there. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - Effin Haole - 06-16-2006 Because you will wait for them. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - mrthuse - 06-16-2006 "between 8:30 and 12:00"? You're in good shape. The best I can ever get from that company whose partner used to be Robuck is "between 8:30 and 6:00"; that's 6 more hours. How's losing a full day of work to fix the microwave? I always thought somebody could make a killing by offering a repair service available between midnight and 6 a.m. the following morning. It would be great for folks who work nights. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - rz - 06-16-2006 Don't get me started. I have many such tales to tell on this subject, including repairmen who called to say they're on their way and never show. On the bright side, our home warranty company is awesome. Whenever we've called, they show up within 2 hours, even on a Sunday. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - spearmint - 06-16-2006 Sadists. Re: OT: Why do repair guys do the "We'll be there between 8:00 and 12:00) - jardster - 06-16-2006 More patient's keep me waiting than I ever keep waiting. I don't double book and expect you to get here on time. And when you are a new patient and I tell you to come 15 mins early so you can fill out the paperwork, please DO SO. Ok, rant off. And off to see my new patient who is STILL filling out the paperwork. |
