Repost from the weekend: Best site for photo sharing and print/album printing - dmann - 08-16-2012 Original thread from Saturday: http://forums.macresource.com/read.php?1,1410599,1410599#msg-1410599 Appreciate the responses I received and am exploring those options, but thought I'd throw it out there again since we seem to be a more "active" group during the week. Looking for something easy for non- computer savvy Mac and PC users to share and view photos and create prints and albums. TIA- DM Re: Repost from the weekend: Best site for photo sharing and print/album printing - pinkoos - 08-16-2012 I'm not sure any service out there is "idiot-proof" (I'm not trying to be rude or demeaning to your non-tech savvy friends/family...I struggle with the same issues when trying to figure out "easy" stuff for my mom to do online). But, I use smugmug for personal stuff (there's a free trial, but after that it's a pay service). I have one account for which I share the pw with family all around the world. They then can create their own galleries within my account and post pictures to their own albums within their gallery. Because there's so much competition in this space, I think every service is trying to match and then outdo the others, so it makes for sites that are feature-rich, but complicated. I've never liked flickr, but I use it to post work-related pics (because I don't want work people seeing my personal stuff on smugmug). I'd imagine that you could set an account up in a similar fashion to what I've set up with smugmug, but I've just never found their interface very intuitive. By the way, you can order prints directly on smugmug too. Anyway, if you do find a service that's for the non-techie crowd, please report back. Re: Repost from the weekend: Best site for photo sharing and print/album printing - samintx - 08-16-2012 What is wrong with Photobucket. Also, Snapfish is easy. Either one easy to upload pics and share. There are certain things with any program you need to Learn and experiment with. I have been playing around with a couple but keep coming back to http://minus.com/ It is very minimalist almost to the point of you wish for a few more instructions. On the plus side it is very fast with the uploads, has nice big previews, and no annoying commercials. Ooops - I missed the requirement for printing which minus.com does not appear to do. Re: Repost from the weekend: Best site for photo sharing and print/album printing - samintx - 08-16-2012 I signed up for minus and it said "welcome back". How is this possible. One thing off the bat I don't like about it is other peoples albums on the site. I don't want to see this...but another suggestion for an upload site. I've been using Photobucket just about since they first came onboard and it has gotten a bit bloated. I hate the upload ad. It's one of the easiest sites to link photos to and there's the option to make individual albums Private or Public. I think there's also an option to arrange photos in upload order, by numeric, oldest first, newest first, etc. I think you're limited to 1280 resolution unless you're a paying customer. Maybe Minus used to be known by another name. TinyPic has been bought by Photobucket, you can't get a new account with TinyPic but I've been able to keep my old going. I'm going to check out MInus. Re: Repost from the weekend: Best site for photo sharing and print/album printing - Dazed & Confused (Mobile) - 08-16-2012 I asked this same question a couple of weeks ago and used Photobucket. It was very easy and painless. http://m1053.photobucket.com/albums/JohnBernardo1960/Road_Trip_2012/?src=www D & C Re: Repost from the weekend: Best site for photo sharing and print/album printing - dk62 - 08-17-2012 I use Shutterfly. They would always reprint anything I was not happy with. |
