Quartz and granite counter tops - samintx - 08-19-2012 I want to seriously look into the Quartz material recommended here. Interesting, I called a local real estate show and they knew about the quartz and it was available in my town but they said YOU SHOULD GO WITH GRANITE BECAUSE PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT IT AND NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT QUARTZ. IMO, What reasoning. They admitted quartz was easier care....Do you bow to lowest common denominator? I don't think so. I think people should get what they can afford that pleases them asthetically and that accomplishes what they need it to. Fashion be darned! If that's granite or quartz then go for it. I'm looking at solid surface right now for a kitchen redo, but I've had very good luck with laminate - no stains or scratches at all on my highly used, light colored, 15 year old laminate countertops. On a limited budget I'd rather spend money on beautiful functional cabinets and drawers than on super expensive countertops. I also heard that stainless steel is becoming less popular, white is making a comeback.
