Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Dennis S - 08-31-2012 "The G.O.P. platform says that it 'will empower millions of seniors to control their personal health care decisions.'" Yeah. They will be given a voucher that isn't nearly enough to buy crappy insurance that will undoubtedly screw them like never before, while the money that could have been going for medical expenses will go to the pockets of the insurance companies. Saving Medicare, my ass. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/31/opinion/Krugman.html Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - cbelt3 - 08-31-2012 Wait.. Vouchers. .. Buy own insurance... Sound familiar? Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Dennis S - 08-31-2012 Wait. Whose fingerprints are all over those? Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - $tevie - 08-31-2012 Vouchers are such BS. A surreptitious tax cut for those of us who are not poor. Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Dennis S - 08-31-2012 Vouchers are like: You are required to buy a new car. Here's a voucher for $8,000. Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Lemon Drop - 09-01-2012 Same question as before: If it's so great, why can't today's seniors have this plan? Why wait until 2022? Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Dennis S - 09-01-2012 Here a few more numbers: http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/08/24/739271/seniors-will-pay-60000-more-for-medicare-under-romneyryans-plan-report-finds/?mobile=nc Bottom line: it is hard enough paying for people's health care anyway. When you add profit (and inevitable gouging) and competition is almost nil or in name only, it will be much worse. I don't understand how people can vote such that it affects their children and grandchildren so bad. There is no reason to give this business to insurance companies. They have no claim to it and don't deserve it. In fact, it only compounds the medical care problems we have already. Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Avenger - 09-01-2012 >>But should Romney/Ryan repeal the Affordable Care Act’s savings, beneficiaries will face higher cost sharing<< If the act is repealed, Medicare will get back its $716B. They go ti backwards. So what else is in that report? Re: Succinct article by Krugman about Republicans killing Medicare - Dennis S - 09-01-2012 Medicare is not LOSING $716 billion. If you don't know why, you need to watch and read some legitimate news. If you do know why, you have a real problem. |
