Interesting end to the AL regular season shaping up here ...
(For those who don't follow it, I'm talking about Oakland vs Texas Baseball)
It's interesting to watch Oakland's version of MoneyBall (i.e. spend as little as possible) vs Texas' (spend like there's no tomorrow).

Watching the game now. Ready to party. Moneyball isn't just about spending as little as possible. Moneyball means losing great players too. The would much rather have more to spend. The A's douchbag ownership has more money, they're just trying to move to San Jose. But stripping the team down (a'la "Major League" ) isn't working for them! Go "Oakland" A's!

It's over. Oakland won the west with the final 3 game sweep. I don't think anyone saw this coming back in May.
Yes, Moneyball is not just a bad movie ... it's also a way to get people to root for laundry. Anyone who's any good from this team will be gone inside of 3 years, to be replaced by some other unknown.
I understand the ownership group wants to move the team to a better venue, just not sure why they can't take the Giants example and build something in downtown Oakland. Reward those diehard fans for once and maybe you'll have the money to keep some of these players in the future.

Woo Hoo! If the Yankees win tonight, the A's play the Tigers. If the Yankees lose, they'll have to play the Orioles in a tiebreaker, the winner of which plays the A's.

That's not why. Go to sfgate.com and look up "Lew Wolff" He is the most hated man in the bay area. Downtown Oakland is a great place. There will be a downtown stadium.

actually, i never saw it. i have this thing against brad pitt. the last movie i enjoyed him in was Burn After Reading, but that was mostly because he was shot in the head in the middle of it.

Moneyball was a good movie, and if anyone had seen it you would know that you are using the reference incorrectly. It was about analysis of statistics beyond batting averages and RBIs, and finding players who could benefit your roster who were underpriced because they did not have the sexy statistics most teams look for or in some cases would not even understand.
